Confusing Activities with Results

Across teams, individuals and organizations, people seem to think activities are sufficient to get hired/appreciated and paid. While there is no doubt on one needing the other, one needs to realize that activities are not sufficient.

To ensure that one is spending time/money/resources on the right activites , the right way, 'Results' alone can be the performance criteria.

The principle applies equally well to an employee, a vendor, a partner and for most of the business relationships.

Activities might keep you busy, but not for long if they do not produce the right Results!

I think with out doing activities, we cannot get results. If we have to gain expertise/experience, we may have to slog at it with out success in inital days.

The more you do, the better you learn and the greater impact on the results..

Cold calling: the intial days of coldcalling may not be effective..but as you learn more and more, you can handle any one on the call and get results out of it .

Thanks for your note. I am not denying the need for activities. But if your activities are not delivering the right results, one cannot hope to learn and improve but critically look at the activities to see if they can really deliver the right results

YES! doing samething again and again and expecting miracles to happen is foolishness...if it is not delivering the expected results, you should change the way you are working.....or if you dont change the way you work, change will change you
